The pride and the prejudice

Here is a story of the sun and a sunflower

Companions, friends or maybe lovers

The sunflower gyrated to the sun’s partial fervor

The sun basked in the sunflower’s ardor

The sunflower never let the sun’s flaming eyes wander

Her eyes stared back fearless, locking the sun in its splendor

So for no other he shone and groomed

Kissing her everyday as she zestfully bloomed

A true love story it was

But not for long because

One day the sunflower woke

The mischievous sun zapped her with a harsh stroke

The moment was jinxed

And the sunflower blinked

The sun looked beyond

To the trees, birds and the fishes in the pond

A world full of beautiful others

Who incited for his attention with waves and flutters

It didn’t take time and soon the sun comprehends

There were more suitors and wanna be friends

He looks at the sunflower and says in loathing voice

“You are not the only one gorgeous and poise”

The sun’s chauvinism hurt the sunflower so

Her ego shattered and her pride took the blow

She threatened the sun to never look at him again

Even if her life was at bargain

Day by day the sunflower emaciated

And one day she crumbled with her pride unabated

The sun didn’t miss her for sometime though

And for his new friends he went to and fro

Every morning he anxiously jumped out

To catch an eye that would be bold and devout

But no one dared to look at his flaming glares and kept him at yonder

In his solitude the sun sighed at his foolish blunder

Pride and prejudice, its end is always one

The withered flower and the lonely sun
